How my Personal Brand Led to a Short-Form Agency—by Pure Luck
Four months into going all-in on my personal brand, something unexpected happened. I was consistently sharing value, creating content, and building my presence online without any clear end goal—just faith in the long-term impact of authenticity. Then, one day, I received a message that changed everything.
Someone reached out asking for a consultation. They wanted help with short-form video content, something I had experience in but wasn’t offering as a service. I agreed to the consultation, and by the end, I realised, Wait, this could be a business. And so, just like that, my short-form agency was born.
From that moment on, things started to move quickly. In the span of seven days, from Monday to Sunday, I signed four clients. Here’s the funny part: I wasn’t chasing after these clients. They came to me because of the personal brand I had built online—specifically on Instagram, where I do most of my outreach. I spoke to some of these clients, and they told me outright, "If you didn’t have an established brand on Instagram, there’s no way I would’ve replied to your message."
It was then that I truly understood the power of personal branding. It creates instant credibility and trust before you’ve even spoken a word. Without my brand, I wouldn’t have been able to land those clients. Now, I’m averaging three clients a week, which still blows my mind, considering this wasn’t something I initially planned.
However, it’s not without its challenges. I’m balancing this growth with a seven-hour workday job to save up for my upcoming six-month gap year of traveling. I’m also managing multiple businesses, so my schedule is intense. Most nights, I go to bed around 1 or 2 a.m., waking up at 7 a.m. to do it all again. You’d think I’d be exhausted, but oddly, I feel more energised than when I used to sleep 9-10 hours. Now, I realise I was likely oversleeping, which left me feeling more tired throughout the day.
The journey so far has reinforced something I heard recently, which really stuck with me: "If you’re invited, go. If you have an opportunity, take it—you never know what could happen." This has been my approach to personal branding and business, and it’s opened doors I never expected. Sometimes, you don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need to show up, stay consistent, and be open to the possibilities.
